Pimples

When pores become clogged, bacteria that normally occur on the skin surface start to rapidly multiply in the warm and moist environment where they are trapped. This leads to postules or pimples, and is often influenced by hormones or stress, leading to excess sebum production. Topically treating this type of acne mainly consists of controlling the growth of these bacteria and clearing up the pores before they can become infected.

Chemical peels

For treating superficial or mild acne, I use mandelic acid peels because of its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect, but also its high tolerability, which makes this acid ideal for people with sensitive or reactive skin. For severe acne where postules become nodules, I opt for a modified lipophilic acid (up to 7 times more powerful than standard salicylic acid), which kills bacteria deep in the skin and thoroughly cleanses and unclogs the troubled pores. Light therapy

Are you not up for a strong peeling on your already reactive skin, then I can offer you a treatment with my IPL machine. This is intensive but extremely effective, and perfect for sensitive or brittle skin where we kill bacteria in short flashes of light at high temperatures, and at the same time heal your skin to avoid the formation of acne scars. Another solution is LED, where we use blue light in treatment or after-treatment with other methods, or - for the most severe cases - in combination of all three solutions together. Microneedling

Microneedling (puncturing the skin with small sterile needles) is a fairly new treatment technique against Acne. It may seem counterintuitive considering pricking open nodules and postules could cause bacteria to spread, but by doing so, we actually bring oxygen deep into the skin, which is immediately bactericidal. This approach, again in collaboration with LED and specially for this purpose developed Cerepharma serums, can produce strong results with very quick effect, although the process is not without pain or some recovery time. Aftercare

In the past, it was often said that oily skin made acne worse and that it had to be dried out (with alcohol). This was hopelessly wrong and led to scarring for many people who applied undiluted solvents directly on their reactive epidermis. Healthy skin is nourished skin, so I will assist you with advice on which products you should use at home to properly combat your pimples and I will always finish the treatment with a nourishing mask.
