Scars

When our skin has sustained grave injury, fibroblasts go into overdrive to produce a lot of collagen and elastin to make up for the sudden lack of tissue. This manifests itself in an area of irregular looking skin without pores or hair, which reflects the light differently due to a protruding or dented relief and is therefore very noticeable, especially on the face. Slowly these will start to fade, and for small or fresh scars we can speed up this process.

Treatment

For large old scars with a lot of proud flesh growth, I refer you to the (fractional) laser clinic. Superficial scars or scars that are still in the healing phase I can shrink down for you. In the case of stretch marks or cuts caused by accidents or surgery we can accelerate the healing process, making it so that the resulting final scars will be much less visible. This is mainly done via antibacterial and circulation-stimulating LED irradiation and with healing IPL flashes that drive new collagen production from within. Remodeling

Within acne or atrophic scars, the epidermis has remained intact and the deformation was caused by pressure (inflamed pimples) within the pore, leading to pits in the skin also called rolling and box scars. Here we will use microneedling to make the old hardened collagen tissue more flexible and stimulate new production. Preceded by an appropriate chemical peeling, this method of 'collagen remodeling' has an extremely strong smoothing effect that slowly reduces depth and returns the dented skin to the surface. Progression

These treatments offer a durable solution where scars improve little by little throughout sessions. The effect of this is permanent, and will continue to develop for months after treatment. Although this process is not always painless for older scars, these treatments can be perfectly combined with other improvement procedures and treatment courses as long as you are not currently taking (ro)acutane or any light-reactive medicine.
