Electro-Thermolysis
Aesthetic diathermy is a process where we conduct a short electrical current through the body via a thin sterile probe. Depending on how and where we apply this electric 'needle', we can achieve different goals. The most well-known is permanent hair removal by directly destroying the growth cells in the shaft of the hair follicle, also called Electro-epilation. Besides that, this technology, under the name of Thermocoagulation, is used for treating various skin imperfections such as milia, warts, skin tags and burst veins, as described in my corresponding webpages.
Hair Removal
Classic electrolysis used either a galvanic current to initiate a chemical reaction in the follicle (slow [25s] but effective), an alternating current to briefly burn the growth cells (quick [3s] but unsuitable for curled or complex roots) or a combination of both by applying heat to accelerate the galvanic effect (equivalent and faster result [8s/hair]). All of these were rather painful and felt like the sting of a wasp for most of their duration, and this for each and every treated hair. Luckily, Silhouet-Tone completely reinvented this process into a much more bearable solution.
Flash-Thermolysis
By introducing the concept of insulated needles and pulse modulation the EVO XHD allows the technician to work under much higher intensity and precision without disturbing the skin. It can permanently destroy a hair in just 0.2 seconds, so fast that pain cannot even be registered! Decades of statistics are compiled into thousands of preprogrammed settings optimised for all zones and hair types. With this machine it all comes down to the insertion (which I'm highly proficient at) to make sure, electrolysis hair removal is as quick and pain-free as it can possibly be.
Precise Procedure
With my lighted dental scopes allowing me to see the root of the hair through the skin at 3.5 times magnification, I can make sure to glide the sonde perfectly to the base of the follicle (we never actually pierce the skin) where in a very instant the flash will take place. Pulling it out, if the hair was in the right phase, the follicle's matrix cells will join, making sure it can never regenerate. Before treatment I prepare the skin with iontophoresis, positively ionised to open up the follicles and afterwards negatively to close them, all to ascertain maximum result and comfort.
Applicability
Electrolysis is a highly accurate and safe method of permanent hair removal that works for all skin types and hair of all color, including light blonde, grey and peach fuzz, which is immediately the main use case for this technology: treating the hairs that cannot be targeted by laser. It also offers the perfect solution for permanently reshaping eyebrows, beard contours or pubic hair, because of the high precision level we can operate at. I can even work hypoallergenic using gold-plated needles or sound-free to accommodate those who get nervous by the bleeps.
